NEWS & EVENTS Tue, 11 Apr 2006 The final reports from the European PeBBu Network are now available. These include reports from each of the 9 scientific domains, an international state-of-the-art report on Performance Based Building and a Performance Based Building R & D Roadmap. Tue, 22 Nov 2005 Various aspects related to Performance Based Building are featured in a number of recent news articles from the European PeBBu Network. Mon, 21 Nov 2005 This Aus-PeBBu Seminar was recently presented in Queensland by Danny Shiem-shin Then, Associate Professor in Facility Management and Asset Maintenance at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The presentation is now available on this site. |
Performance Based Buildingis an approach to building-related processes, products and services that is concerned predominantly with the required outcomes (the ‘end’) and not with how these outcomes are achieved (the ‘means’). This is in contrast to the traditional prescriptive approach which tends to focus on specifying the method or solution for achieving the required outcomes. >> more Benefits of Performance Based Building:(a) It encourages better understanding and communication of client/user requirements; (b) It allows the building practitioner considerable flexibility with regard to design solutions – encourages innovation, providing the opportunity for cost-optimised solutions; (c) It facilitates international trade. Aus-PeBBuis a network of Australian researchers and industry representatives who are participating in the meetings and activities of the European Union funded Performance Based Building (PeBBu) Network, which is operating from August 2001 to August 2005. Aus-PeBBu is also running activities (working groups and industry seminar/workshops) aimed at promoting performance based building in Australia.
